Social activists, representatives of confessions and national organizations held a rally in honor of the victims of political repressions in Yoshkar-Ola on October 30. They lit candles and laid flowers at the memorial. At the event, activists announced a minute of silence in honor of the victims. Tatar activist Ramai Yuldashev reported this to 7x7.
The rally was held at the monument to the victims of political repressions. 60 people attended the event. The police brought two paddy wagons around and were on duty near the event. After the rally, some of the participants went to the Mendursky Landfill, where residents of the republic who were shot during the years of Stalin's terror are buried.
The remaining 30 people participated in prayer in the sacred Mari grove. The Mari Ushem National Organization’s representative Laid Kozlov and the Council of Elders of the Mari People’s Chairman Vitaly Tanakov conducted rituals and sacrificed sheep, ducks, and geese.
Actions in honor of the victims of political repressions were held in Russian cities on October 30. For example, activist Yuri Voblikov from Penza lit memorial candles at the Repentance Monument and laid carnations at the memorial. At the monument, the social activist installed a sign, "October 30, the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions."
The police took explanations from the social activist for this.
