Employees of pre-trial detention center No. 2 in Rybinsk beat 34-year-old Maksim Melikov, a suspect in attempted fraud. This was reported by "Yarnovosti" online media with reference to the relatives of the man and his lawyer Olga Solodovnikova.
According to the media, on March 4th Maxim Melikov was taken to the Rybinsk detention center No. 2 from the temporary detention center in Uglich. During the registration, the employees allegedly wanted to put a metal detector into his body to make sure that the man was not trying to carry prohibited items with him. Melikov refused, after which seven representatives of the FSIN (Federal Penitentiary Service) beat him. The next day he informed the lawyer about it.
- They tried to examine my client with a device that should not be applied to people. When he refused the procedure and told the employees that they had no right to do so, physical force was used against him, - attorney Olga Solodovnikova is quoted by Yarnovosti. - Later he was denied medical assistance, for which he applied. Maxim complains of acute pain in his side. It could be a broken rib. But he is not examined. The groceries his relatives brought him were ruined by the employees in front of him.
The lawyer said that she appealed to the administration of the colony, but she was told that "nothing happened" and "everything is within the law." She intends to file complaints about the duty shift and the administration of the colony to the prosecutor's office and the Direction of FSIN(Federal Penitentiary Service) in the Yaroslavl region.
