Former convict Alexey Galkin stated that he was allegedly being given unbearable conditions in the detention center No. 2 in Kirov, where he was placed for failing to appear in court on the case of a false denunciation of a member of the FSIN department in the region. Galkin recorded a video message, handed over to «7x7» by prisoner defender Pyotr Kuryanov.
Galkin said that he was put in the worst cell:
'Worms, water, windows do not open. I do not have medical assistance at all: they do not take stitches, do not do dressings. I even had to cut my stomach to open the window.’
He said that his letters, appeals and complaints were allegedly not being sent, because 'the employee of the UFSIN was the victim’.
Pyotr Kuryanov told that he was not allowed to see his client in the detention center. According to him, head of the detention center found no reason for visiting.
On April 28, 2017, the judge, considering the case of Galkin, changed his measure of restraint for a six-month detention as defendant did not attend several court sessions in April. He was declared on federal wanted list on May 10 and detained on May 21. The defense claimed that Galkin underwent outpatient treatment in a hospital in the city of Balashikha in the Moscow region on the date of court sessions. At the same time in the case materials there are certificates from Balashikha medical institutions, which state that Galkin did not apply to hospitals at the place of his stay.
The next court session on the case of a false denunciation will be held on June 6. The victim and several witnesses will be repeatedly questioned.
Galkin reported on torturing in the colonies of Verkhnekamsky and Omutninsky districts after being released in January 2017. He appealed for help to the movement "For Human Rights": a criminal case was filed against him for libel against the employees of the correctional facility, although, according to Galkin, he was the victim. The investigation carried out a check and did not find any confirmation. After that, a criminal case was opened against him on a false denunciation, which is currently being examined in the Kirovo-Chepetsk District Court.
A similar case has been instituted against another convicted Eduard Gorbunov, who is serving a sentence in Correctional Facility No. 6. According to human rights activists, they have allegations of torture from at least two more convicts from IK-6.
