The roof of the Russian Special Forces University in Gudermes, Chechnya, caught fire on the morning of October 29 following a drone attack, as reported by the region’s head Ramzan Kadyrov.
Ramzan Kadyrov claimed that the university building was unoccupied, resulting in no injuries, and that the fire was quickly extinguished. Agentstvo noted that the affected structure is actually the university’s main building.
Ukrainian publications NV and Kyiv Post, citing intelligence sources, reported that the attack is connected to a conflict between Ramzan Kadyrov and Senator Suleiman Kerimov over the Wildberries marketplace.
In response to the drone attack, Kadyrov announced that he had "ordered [his forces] not to take Ukrainian soldiers prisoner but to exterminate them and intensify the fight by 100%."
Since February 2024, the Russian Special Forces University in Gudermes has borne the name of Vladimir Putin, with drone production starting there in April 2024.
