Residents of the Korenevsky District signed a petition calling for the dismissal of the district head Marina Degtyaryova, who refused to resign following a meeting with Governor Alexey Smirnov. The petition was published on VKontakte on November 15.

The petition arose after Marina Degtyaryova declared she would not step down despite the governor’s recommendation. Its authors accuse her of losing the trust of residents and acting unprofessionally. They are demanding an election for a new district head and an investigation into the administration’s efficiency.

The petition’s creators claim that Degtyaryova systematically ignored residents’ concerns, failed to engage in "constructive dialogue with the population," and "achieved no tangible results in improving the district’s quality of life."

On November 14, Governor Alexey Smirnov suggested that Degtyaryova resign. Instead, she addressed the meeting attendees and began talking about a medal she had received. This prompted the residents to boo her. Later, in an interview with Russia Today, Degtyaryova announced that she would not resign.

Two days earlier, Governor Smirnov dismissed Alexander Bogachev, the head of the Sudzhansky District. On November 10, around 120 displaced residents from border areas gathered on Red Square in Kursk. They demanded to acknowledge that the country is at war, to hold accountable those responsible for the Ukrainian army’s incursion into Kursk Oblast, and to address their housing concerns.
