Fundraising for the correspondent Elena Shukaeva was announced by the «ROSshtraf» Telegram channel August 22. By lunchtime, the activists closed the collecting. Earlier, the courts awarded the journalist five fines for anti-war publications.
The courts imposed five fines of 40 thousand rubles each on Elena Shukaeva. The journalist tried to appeal the decisions of the courts, but the appeal upheld them.
Elena Shukaeva collaborated with «Vot Tak» and «Novaya Gazeta».
In addition, employees of the E center found a five-year-old video clip by Alexei Navalny on Shukayeva’s VKontakte page and drew up a protocol on her demonstration of extremist symbols. The police detained the journalist when she was leaving the court building after appealing another fine.
The court arrested Shukaeva for 14 days. In protest, the journalist staged a hunger strike in the special detention center.
