The activist of Navalny's headquarters, Dmitry Sekushin, was summoned for questioning to Severodvinsk police in the Arkhangelsk region. In the police, he was detained for one day and condemned for demonstrating Nazi symbols.
The activist explained that if he knew the reason, he would not go. He was brought to responsibility for a picture about Donald Trump on VKontakte. Meme derided the supporters of Trump, whom many consider neo-Nazis.
According to the activist, he was summoned to the police without an official agenda:
'They called me and asked to come and give evidence. Being law-abiding citizen, I agreed and came; after the conversation, they immediately drafted a report and I was accused of demonstrating Nazi symbols on the Internet.'
During the August 29 detention, Sekushin was on a sick leave, his friends handed over a copy of the sick leave sheet to the police, but the activist was still kept in a temporary detention facility for a day. He needed ambulance because of heart problems. On August 30, Dmitri Sekushin was convicted of a public demonstration of Nazi symbols. He was imposed a fine of 1,000 rubles.
Sekushin explained the court that the pictures were humorous and did not have a goal of propagating Nazi symbols.
Article 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses 'Propaganda or Public Display of Nazi Attributes' provides a fine of 1,000 rubles as a minimum punishment and 15 days of administrative arrest with seizure of equipment – as maximum.
