In the evening of April 13 unknown people sprayed suffocating gas with a pungent odor in the office of the Murmansk civic organization "Center for Social and psychological assistance and legal support to victims of discrimination and homophobia "Maximum". Two employees of the organization got hurt.
“We ran into the street. Within ten minutes we felt bad,” one of the victims, an activist of "Maximum" Violetta Grudina told "7x7". “I called the head of the organization Sergey Alekseenko and the police. Then I returned to the office to take stuff and shoes, the smell of gas made me feel bad again. It was a very strong concentration. Sergey arrived at 18:20, and together we waited for the police, which arrived only after 40 minutes”.
According to activist, police didn’t conduct investigation and didn’t even go to the office of the organization. The police also didn’t offer victims to call an ambulance to fix the fact of poisoning.
“They treated us and Sergey with disdain, especially after they learned the full name of our organization,” complained Violetta Grudina. “The only thing they did was asking to write a statement. Once I did that, they left”.
This afternoon, the police explained "Maximum" that murmanchanka who lived next door to the office of the organization was the first who reported about what had happened. She saw the young people near the office windows and called the police, but the local department ignored the message.
“Today I talked with another neighbor who also saw three young people near the office. I think that these were the same young people who attacked our office in December last year,” Violetta Grudina shared her thoughts.
The police carry out an inspection upon the attack on the office of the LGBT organization. As reported to activists of "Maximum", the case might lead to paragraph 2 of Article 116 of the Criminal Code ("Beating").
