Valentina Anokhina, a deputy of the Marksovsky District Assembly from the United Russia party, was awarded the "Woman of the Year" prize for her "special contribution to agricultural development," as reported by the administration of the Podlesnovsky municipal unit on December 10.
The award was presented on November 27 by the Volga-Media publishing house with support from the United Russia Women’s Movement.
The administration removed the post congratulating Valentina Anokhina amid media criticism. Maria Usova, head of the United Russia Women’s Movement, referred to Anokhina as "a victim who found herself in a difficult situation."
In August 2024, 15-year-old Semyon Kuzkin died after handling sacks containing the banned insecticide Thimet 10G at a warehouse rented by local farmer Dmitry Zhurov from Valentina Anokhina.
Zhurov, who assigned the teenager to unload the chemicals, was sentenced to a year and a half of restriction of freedom in early December. Anokhina was not called to court, even as a witness.
