The following day, a court ordered a two-month detention for the teenager suspected in the murder, according to the regional Investigative Committee.
74.ru reported that the crowd attempted to burn down the home where the murderer of 40-year-old taxi driver Yelena Sarafanova allegedly lived. At least two houses were set ablaze, and residents began leaving the area. Riot police arrived and detained the protesters.
Law enforcement also detained a 58-year-old man who had fired at the crowd from his home, and he now faces criminal charges for attempted murder.
On October 25, the court detained the 16-year-old deaf-mute teenager suspected in the murder of the taxi driver. The boy’s father claimed investigators provided almost no evidence against him.
In the afternoon, the head of the Chelyabinsk regional Ministry of Internal Affairs informed residents that Korkino police chief Vladimir Dyakin had been removed from office.
On the evening of October 23, police discovered the body of 40-year-old taxi driver Yelena Sarafanova on Vatutin Street in Korkino. In the morning of October 24, Telegram channels started circulating wanted posters of two young men, born in 2008 and 2005. Local residents alleged that Sarafanova was killed by two brothers from a "Romani house" and gathered for a spontaneous protest at the location.
