Vasily Slonov, an artist from Krasnoyarsk, was sentenced to one year of corrective labor for creating a "prison roly-poly doll," according to a report by TVK on September 24.

Vasily Slonov was found guilty of repeatedly displaying symbols associated with an extremist organization. The court sentenced him to one year of corrective labor and ordered the destruction of two of his roly-poly dolls.

In his final address to the court, Slonov described the case as "historic," noting that it was allegedly the first time in Krasnoyarsk's history that an artist had been tried for their work. He plans to appeal the verdict.

In February, Slonov was detained at the airport before leaving for Kazakhstan and subsequently placed under house arrest. The charges against him stemmed from prison tattoo star designs on the roly-poly doll, which were interpreted as symbols of the banned AUE movement. Previously, Slonov had been fined under similar charges.

Other works by Slonov include a sledgehammer for Rosgvardia to "break down opposition members’ doors," cotton wool bears, and a pacifier wrapped in barbed wire.
