Employees of a bar in Orenburg were arrested due to holding a travesty show and propagating LGBT relationships among visitors, as reported by local media on March 20.
A case was initiated against Alexander Klimov and Diana Kamilyanova for their involvement in activities of an extremist organization. According to the investigators, Klimov, the art director of the POSE bar, hired travesty artists for shows and 'propagated non-traditional sexual relationships' to the bar visitors on Telegram. The bar administrator Diana Kamilyanova approved the show program, filmed performances, and also promoted LGBT.
This is the first such criminal case after LGBT was recognized as an extremist organization in Russia, claims the head of the 'Safe Internet League,' Ekaterina Mizulina.
Previously, law enforcers came to the bar and interrupted an LGBT party. They questioned the visitors, which resulted in 15 statements on unlawful activities.
After LGBT was labeled as an 'extremist movement' in Russia, law enforcement started conducting regular raids on night clubs. For instance, a cultural center in Tula was closed after a themed love and sexuality party. A bar in Krasnoyarsk, which held travesty shows, had to cease its activities after a denunciation by Mizulina.
