The police have initiated an investigation into Dmitry Petrovsky, a resident of Yaroslavl, following his picket against the introduction of fines for spitting in public spaces. Petrovsky stood outside the regional government building, carrying an empty bucket to symbolize his opposition to the new regulations. This information was reported by the 76.ru publication on July 12.

Law enforcement authorities visited the former city councilor, Dmitry Petrovsky, and initiated an investigation into a possible violation of mass event regulations. The investigation is based on Petrovsky's picket with a bucket near the Yaroslavl regional government building.

On July 1, Petrovsky picketed with the word "Spittoon" on a bucket protesting the fines for spitting in public spaces. He believes that the region's governor, Mikhail Yevraev, who introduced these fines, views all Yaroslavl citizens as "ill-mannered."

In late June, Governor Mikhail Yevraev introduced fines for spitting in public places within the Yaroslavl region. The initial offense carries a fine of 1,500 rubles ($16.6), increasing to 3,000 rubles ($33.2) for repeated violations. Yevraev urged Yaroslavl citizens to exhibit better manners.

The Yaroslavl region became the first region in Russia to introduce such regulations concerning public spaces.
