The activist of the Chuvash branch of 'Open Russia' Yuri Sidorov was detained at the celebration of the Cheboksary day after he shouted out the words 'We love you, Mikhail Vasilyevich!' to the head of the region.
Sidorov broadcast celebration on Facebook. When the head of Chuvashia Mikhail Ignatiev passed by, the activist loudly greeted him, but after a minute he was detained for smoking in a public place and being drunk. Sidorov refused to have medical examination.
'The fact is that smell of alcohol is not enough to detain. It is necessary, that the person broke public order, looked untidily, and it was possible to detain half the city yesterday. I do not deny the fact of smoking in a public place, I signed the protocol.
In the police department, Sidorov complained of kidney pain; he was transferred to a hospital and provided with medical assistance.
On August 20, another civil activist Yuri Shakeyev was detained in Cheboksary. He went to a single picket against the actions of the city head Alexey Ladykov.
Activist of the movement ‘Art Preparation' Vyacheslav Rybakov was also detained on August 20 for his participation in a single picket and was fined 1,000 rubles.
On April 6, during a street action in memory of those killed in the St. Petersburg metro, Sidorov was already trying to ask Ignatyev a question, but the guard did not let the activist talk to the official.
