In August, the Liza Alert search-and-rescue team received 918 requests for missing person searches in Kursk Oblast, 36 times more than the number of requests in July, the team’s press office reported on September 3.

Search efforts in the region continue for at least 698 individuals, though the actual number is likely higher, as one request often includes two to four people.

On September 4, Acting Governor Alexey Smirnov announced that 500 civilians had been found in the border districts. However, he did not disclose how many people are still officially considered missing.

Last week, residents of Sudzhansky District called for the evacuation of their relatives still in settlements under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU). According to the "Sudzha on Telegram" channel, as of August 30, more than 650 civilians remain in this district alone.

On August 14, authorities in Kursk Oblast "recommended" that residents avoid posting information about missing individuals online, citing concerns that Ukraine’s Center for Information and Psychological Operations could use it for blackmail and spreading fake news.

Following this, Liza Alert stopped posting alerts with photos and personal details of the missing, and VKontakte blocked the group dedicated to searching for people from the border districts, at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
