The Central Election Commission has indefinitely postponed elections in seven municipal districts of Kursk Oblast, as announced on the organization’s Telegram channel on August 21.

Following a recommendation from the Kursk Oblast Election Commission, elections have been postponed in Lgov, as well as in the Belovsky, Bolshesoldatsky, Glushkovsky, Korenevsky, Sudzhansky, and Khomutovsky districts. These areas have declared evacuations due to the Ukrainian army's incursion.

The Central Election Commission has not yet announced a new date for the elections, stating that preparations will resume only when the safety of voters can be fully guaranteed.

This decision does not affect the gubernatorial election, which has been rescheduled to an earlier date, with officials citing the need to "ensure safety and protect the lives and health of Russian citizens."

On August 20, the media outlet "Verstka" reported plans to cancel elections in the border regions of Kursk Oblast, citing its sources. According to the journalists, this decision was coordinated with Sergey Kiriyenko, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration of Russia, and was influenced by various factors, including "territorial uncertainty" in the region.
