Approximately 300 war veterans have started maintaining public order in Vladivostok, as reported by the governor of Primorsky Krai, Oleg Kozhemyako, on July 25.
The squad named "Tiger Law and Order," consisting of former contracted soldiers, has started patrolling the streets of Vladivostok. The unit currently has about 300 members, but the authorities plan to engage more military personnel to create patrols in other cities in the region.
"There are many visitors who, perhaps, do not fully understand our rules of behavior and need to be put in their place," declared Oleg Kozhemyako.
In January, the Primorye authorities announced plans to create a security agency composed of former participants in the war in Ukraine. They explained that these squads would combat poachers in addition to other duties.
Governor Oleg Kozhemyako also promised to provide war veterans with jobs at local utility companies, offering an additional 30,000 rubles to their salaries. This initiative aims to help military personnel adapt to civilian life.
