Moscow activists who wanted to organize LGBT events in Kirov in November 2016 continue to challenge in court the ban on their holding. On February 27 filed an appeal to the Presidium of the Kirov Regional Court against the earlier decision.

According to activist Nikolai Alekseev, first administration ban was appealed in the court of Kirov, it happened back in November of last year. But the court refused to satisfy the claim, referring to the law prohibiting propaganda of nontraditional sexual relations among minors.

After that they appealed to the Regional Court; on February 7, it upheld the decision of the first instance unchanged. It has also been appealed. According to Alekseev, appeal hearing will take about a month.

In case of application rejection, activists will go further, referring to the Supreme Court of Russia, and then to the European Court of Human Rights.

‘The situation in all other regions is similar, but any case everything will be brought to Strasbourg. In the end, we will change the Russian court practice in this category of cases. I'm sure,' Nikolai Alekseev commented.

LGBT activists were going to hold two rallies and march in Kirov. It was assumed that there would be about 300 people. Municipality refused to hold all three events, citing the fact that meetings would be organized in less than a hundred meters from public places with ban on public speaking – stadium, playground, regional geriatric center. Children could be witnesses, but the law prohibits gay propaganda among children.
