The prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into remarks made by a Kurgan Oblast deputy who urged women to “give birth while the birther still works,” 66.RU reported on November 19.

Alexander Iltyakov, a member of the United Russia party, described Russian women who want to independently decide when to have children as "dummies." He also claimed that wars occur because of women who have abortions and urged them to "give birth while the birther still works." Iltyakov made these statements on November 18 during a broadcast on Komsomolskaya Pravda radio.

Yekaterina Gerlakh, a former investigator with the Investigative Committee, filed a complaint against Iltyakov with the prosecutor’s office, 66.RU reported.

Gerlakh called for the deputy to be held accountable for "inciting hatred, enmity, and extremism."

"He should buy an apartment and open a savings account in the name of this [collective] woman so she can afford to raise a child," the former investigator wrote.
