Alexey Navalny will be buried at the Borisovskoye Cemetery in Moscow. There will be no farewell ceremony, as reported by Ivan Zhdanov on February 28.
Alexey Navalny’s funeral service will take place at the church of the 'Mother of God Quench My Sorrows' icon in Maryino district, Moscow. The service will start at 2 PM. After that, the politician will be buried at the Borisovskoye Cemetery.
Those willing to bid farewell were asked to come to the church in advance.
Navalny’s supporters did not manage to find a venue to hold a farewell ceremony. The politician’s close ones were demanded to conduct 'a quiet family funeral.'
According to Navalny’s ally, Ivan Zhdanov, the burial was initially planned for February 29. However, nobody agreed to dig a grave on this date, suggesting February 28 or March 1 instead. Navalny’s colleagues are convinced that this has to do with Vladimir Putin’s address to the Federal Assembly, scheduled for February 29.
