Today, on January 19, memorial events coincided with the 5th anniversary of the murder of lawyer Stanislav Markelov and journalist Anastasia Baburova have passed in many Russian cities. Street demonstrations were organized in Moscow and St. Petersburg, anarchists and anti-fascists laid flowers at the "Eternal Light" memorial in Syktyvkar, activists confined themselves with a picket in Murmansk. It was held at the monument to Cyril and Methodius, opposite to the Regional Scientific Library.
A year earlier, the arctic activists hung a banner dedicated to the victims murdered by neo-Nazis. In 2014, left-wing radicals, representing movement "Spartacus Red Guard", were the initiators of the event. Here is what the Murmansk antifascist picket organizer Mikhail Molotov said to "7x7":
"Fascism is a product of capitalism. If we look at a specific example of Markelov and Baburova, we’ll find a trace of the Kremlin. Their murderer Tikhonov were tied to the organization "Russky obraz", and as a result of the investigation, the court revealed that he is tied to people who sit in the Kremlin. It is quite obvious that Tikhonov was just allowed to kill Markelov."
In addition to the struggle against capitalism, activists of "Spartacus Red Guards" with the banner "Freedom to political prisoners", that was held by Mikhail Molotov, wanted to remind citizens and caring people of the public campaign "Solidarity against repressions", which is held in Russia from 18 to 26 January .
The event lasted about 40 minutes. By the way, it was sanctioned by the authorities.
