Members of the Youth Council for Human Rights of the Voronezh region appealed to chief of the regional Interior Ministry Alexander Sysoev; they requested to conduct a comprehensive and objective verification of the circumstances of death of a Tajikistan citizen after being detained in the Voronezh police-station №7.
The incident became known in the morning of December 16, when the information about 45-year-old man who suddenly died in the police-station appeared on the site of the Voronezh region MIA. He was taken to the department for violating immigration laws. During drawing up an administrative protocol man fainted. Police, providing first aid, called an ambulance. Arrived doctors pronounced him dead.
“Ensuring of the safety of citizens in dealing with the police is the basis of Russian and international law and is one of the most important issues in the construction of developing civil society. One of the most important principles is the full responsibility of the police for the life and health of persons under their jurisdiction,” chairman of the Youth Council Alexander Druk said. “Law enforcement authorities should openly investigate such case, because it is the most important factor influencing the level of confidence in the police."
Human rights activists also asked to take control of the incident of the Voronezh ombudsman and intend to appeal to the Public Council under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Voronezh.
