On October 4, the government of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug raised the regional payout for signing a contract with the Ministry of Defense by 900,000 rubles, bringing it to 2.2 million rubles. This is the highest amount in the country, according to the regional government’s press office.
With the federal payout of 400,000 rubles and the municipal payout of 150,000 rubles, the total sum for signing a military contract in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug will reach 2.75 million rubles. The previous record of 2.3 million rubles was held by Moscow.
During a year of military service, contracted soldiers from KhMAO will earn a minimum of 5.27 million rubles. According to Mediazona, as of September 23, 2024, 704 residents of the region had died in the war in Ukraine.
Since the beginning of the year, at least 45 regions have increased payouts for signing contracts with the Ministry of Defense. In July, Vladimir Putin raised the federal share from 195,000 to 400,000 rubles and advised the regions to allocate at least the same amount.
