The administration of the Proletarsky District has canceled the celebration of the district’s 100th anniversary and City Day in Proletarsk due to the "current situation." Officials shared this information on social media on August 26.
The administration advised residents to stay indoors and cover their windows with wet cloths if the "situation worsens." Locals have complained about smoke spreading along the ground, making it difficult to breathe.
Employees of Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for the Protection of Consumer Rights) in Rostov Oblast claim that the concentration of harmful substances in the air does not exceed permissible levels.
The authorities and the Ministry of Emergency Situations have provided almost no comments. Governor Vasily Golubev has not visited Proletarsk since the fire began. His last statement on the situation was made on August 20.
Oil tanks in Proletarsk caught fire on August 18 after a drone attack. Five days later, another drone strike hit the oil refinery. Forty-nine firefighters were injured while extinguishing the fire.
