Journalist Gadel Ishmuratov, who has criticized the head of Bashkortostan, reported receiving threats. On August 27, he told the media outlet Aspects that a funeral wreath was placed at his door.

Gadel Ishmuratov previously ran a Telegram channel called "GadelIshmur," which was described as "The whole truth about Radiy Khabirov and the events in the Republic of Bashkortostan." In August, he stopped posting due to the threats. He told the media outlet Aspects that he fears for his life:

"I received a WhatsApp message saying, 'We strongly recommend that you support the current head of the republic. Otherwise, you will meet the same fate as Fail.' [Bashkir activist Fail Alsynov was sentenced to four years for delivering a speech at a rally after Radiy Khabirov’s report]."

According to Ishmuratov, unknown individuals have called him, mentioned his address, and threatened to "come for him." The journalist was forced to move, but still found a funeral wreath at his door.

Until 2017, Gadel Ishmuratov was the editor of the Oskon newspaper. He left his job after criticizing the head of the Abzelilovsky District administration. He also participated in rallies calling for the official’s resignation and the protection of the Bashkir language.
