The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that a group of 300 soldiers from the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) attempted to break through the border in the Sudzhansky District of Kursk Oblast on August 6.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the group, accompanied by 31 tanks and armored vehicles, tried to break through the border starting at 8 AM on August 6. The Russian military asserts that 16 of these vehicles were destroyed. At 7:20 PM, the Ministry reported that the "sabotage group of the AFU" had retreated to Ukrainian territory.

Ukrainian representatives have not commented on the events in Kursk Oblast.

The acting governor of Kursk Oblast, Alexey Smirnov, said that within the past 24 hours, 18 civilians were affected by shelling, and 3 were killed. A local resident told  "7x7" that one of the victims, 24-year-old Nina Kuznetsova, died while trying to leave Sudzha with her husband and child.

Since May 2024, when the Russian Armed Forces created a sanitary zone in the Kharkiv direction, the number of missile and drone attacks on Kursk Oblast has increased 2.5 times.
