Russian citizens commemorated the deceased politician Alexey Navalny on his birthday, June 4. They left notes, flowers, balloons, and candles next to memorials and on Navalny’s grave.

Residents of Novosibirsk, Yoshkar-Ola, Moscow, Samara, Arkhangelsk, Perm, and other cities laid flowers in Navalny’s memory.

In Novosibirsk, the police cordoned off the monument of the victims of political repressions, claiming it was for examination. Law enforcers visited activists from Perm and Syktyvkar ahead of Navalny’s birthday. The police in Samara collected personal data of the woman who came to the city center to pay tribute to the politician. In Perm, unknown individuals scattred leaflets with insults towards Navalny’s supporters next to the monument of the victims of political repressions.

According to a reader of '7x7' , in Ulyanovsk, four men in military uniform destroyed flowers placed near the memorial. Meanwhile, In Kazan, the police were on patrol. 

Two individuals were detained in Novosibirsk, as reported by 'OVD-Info.'


Alexey Navalny would have turned 48 on June 4. He died on February 16, 2024, in a penal colony in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The circumstances of his death remain unknown.
