Policemen in Perm issued warnings to activists just before Alexey Navalny’s birthday, cautioning them against breaking the law. Artem Faizulin, a local lawyer, shared this information with '7x7' on June 3.
Warnings were given to five activists from Perm and Berezniki.
"One activist was questioned about her plans for staging a protest, with no clear explanation for the sudden inquiry," said Artem Faizulin.
According to Faizulin, the police targeted individuals previously fined for participating in unauthorized rallies, including those who visited Navalny's makeshift memorial to lay flowers.
Law enforcement offered no explanation for these visits. Faizulin believes that authorities are concerned about potential protests on June 4, Navalny’s birthday.
Svetlana Kaverzina, an independent deputy of the Novosibirsk City Council, earlier advised activists to prepare for warnings and early morning apartment searches ahead of Navalny’s birthday. Towards the end of May, schools in Yakutsk compelled parents to sign declarations confirming their children's non-participation in rallies.
Alexey Navalny died on February 16, 2024, in a penal colony in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. He would have turned 48 on June 4.
