A 'mobilization training,' involving high-ranking officials and military commissars, was held in Voronezh Oblast on May 28, according to the regional government’s press office.

The purpose of the training was to increase Voronezh Oblast's 'mobilization readiness' and rehearse for the draft. Officials split into practice groups and 'trained' in the town of Ostrogozhsk at a deployed alert training headquarters and a conscript assembly point.

"In 2022, we participated in the partial mobilization in accordance with the president’s decree. It became evident that it is impossible to fulfill the task of raising mobilization resources without having a corresponding base, prepared in advance," commented Deputy Governor Sergey Trukhachev regarding the goal of the assembly.

Government representatives learned to handle documents, transfer equipment to the military, and use weapons. During the training, Deputy Governor Trukhachev rode in a tank, while other officials fired pistols and automatic rifles.

A week ago, the Voronezh Oblast governor increased payouts for signing a contract with the Ministry of Defense fourfold, following the example of some other regional heads. He asserted that Voronezh Oblast would spare no money on those volunteering to go to war in Ukraine.

Throughout 2024, one-time payments to contract soldiers have been increased in 14 Russian regions. The record sum of 1.65 million rubles (about 18,500 USD) can be received by residents of Krasnodar following the introduction of the payment from the mayor's office on May 28. This amount is composed of the governor's payment, remunerations for serving in a special unit, and funds from the Ministry of Defense.
