The 53-year-old Gennady Prokhorychev has become the new Deputy Minister of Education and Youth Policy, according to a report by 'Vladimir Vedomosti' on May 14. He participated in the 'Time of Heroes' program, which prepares 'veterans of the special military operation' for government service.

Gennady Prokhorychev worked as the child ombudsman in Vladimir Oblast for 11 years. In November 2022, he volunteered for war, serving as a psychologist in a medical battalion.

Prokhorychev returned home in December 2023, stating that his contract was over. This contradicts Vladimir Putin’s mobilization decree, which automatically extends all military contracts.

Currently, Prokhorychev visits Russian schools and educates children about the war. In early April, he was involved in a scandal when a school headmaster accused him of attempting to sing a 'pro-Ukrainian' song and tried to expel him from the institution.

Participants in the war in Ukraine are planning to run for deputy positions at various levels and in different regions as representatives of United Russia. Military personnel from Khabarovsk Krai, Tuva, and Tatarstan have submitted their candidacies for internal selection to participate in the upcoming elections. Two United Russia members and former war participants are running for the Chelyabinsk City Council.
