A 16-year-old girl was sentenced to 2 years for physically assaulting and shooting at residents of an orphanage in Omsk Oblast. This information was disclosed by the region’s prosecutor’s office on May 2nd.

A head girl from the Bolsheukovsky orphanage in Omsk Oblast was found guilty of beating and violence and subsequently sent to a young offenders’ institution.

In October 2023, the girl struck another orphanage resident for arriving late to dinner and forced her to clean a toilet with her bare hands. According to the prosecutor’s office, she also beat and humiliated children, and used an air gun to shoot at them.

The criminal case of negligence, initiated against orphanage employees who allegedly knew about the beatings, is still under investigation. Lawyer Nikita Sorokin, representing the young victims, fears that the educators might receive a suspended sentence.

Sorokin claims that not only the employees were aware of the violent behavior, but they actually demanded the head girl to beat children. Additionally, the lawyer called for an investigation into a case of sexualized violence committed by one of the orphanage employees against the convicted girl.
