The chairman of the Nizhny Novgorod City Council was detained in the Donetsk People’s Republic and jailed on April 30. According to 'RIA Novosti,' he is being accused of embezzling 22 million rubles.

The court has ordered a two-month arrest as a precautionary measure for Oleg Lavrichev

Lavrichev faces allegations of embezzling 22 million rubles during the procurement of medical equipment. The politician himself claimed that 'the charges had been brought by the current management of the Arzamas Machine-Building Plant' and pleaded not guilty. He also stated that law enforcement in Donbass did not exert pressure on him during the arrest.

On April 27, Lavrichev wrote on his Telegram channel that he was in Donbass, awaiting a humanitarian aid convoy. A few days ago, the politician was awarded the Ministry of Defense medal 'For Charitable Assistance.' According to Nizhny Novgorod media outlets, Lavrichev signed a military contract the day before his arrest.
