A paramedic was killed in the Tomsk region when she arrived at a patient's call. Her body has been found in the woods, reported the local press service of the Investigative Committee on September 26.

A 61-year-old paramedic was killed when she arrived responding to a patient’s call in the Tomsk region. Upon entering the house, she was attacked and beaten to death against the wall. The patient and an accomplice dismembered the body, put it in bags, and took it to the woods. The suspect told investigators that there had been an argument between him and the paramedic.

The body of the female medical worker was found in the forest near the village of Ishtan on September 25. The Investigative Committee opened a murder criminal case.

The paramedic could have survived if the authorities had responded to the petition in defense of the rights of medical workers and implemented the procedures they recommended. The petition signed by 71,000 people was initiated following the murder of 25-year-old Orenburg general practitioner Elena Fedorova in 2022. In the aftermath of the tragedy, thousands of medics demanded the government introduce higher criminal liability for violence against medical workers, provide general practitioners with alarm buttons, and allow them to do video recordings during their visits. No laws in response to those demands have been adopted.
