Yevgenia Baryshnikova, the mother of Igor Baryshnikov, a Kaliningrad resident sentenced to 7.5 years in prison for disseminating false information about the military, has passed away 1.5 months after the verdict. The news of her death was reported to 7x7 by activist Vadim Khairullin on August 7.

Yevgenia Baryshnikova from Kaliningrad died on the morning of August 7, at the age of 96. This happened a month and a half after her son, Igor Baryshnikov, was imprisoned.

Lately, Yevgenia Baryshnikova had difficulty with mobility. Her daughter-in-law was taking care of her. Her son Igor has been diagnosed with a tumor with potential symptoms of cancer. Human rights advocates earlier warned that the sentence could claim the lives of both the imprisoned Kaliningrad resident and his elderly mother.

In June, Igor Baryshnikov was sentenced to a 7.5-year prison term on charges of disseminating false information about the military in his anti-war posts. Baryshnikov's family received support from Kaliningrad activists and former political prisoners. On platforms such as "Zaodno" and "OVD-Info," they raised funds for independent legal representation for Baryshnikov.
