A group of activists has called for local rabbis to be designated as foreign agents. On February 21, a group of women in the Kemerovo region submitted a demand at the governor’s office to investigate Chabad, a Hasidic movement, and its operations in Russia. They want rabbi Menachem Mendel Rabinovich to be designated as a foreign agent, and the Chabad’s holy book, the Tanya, to be banned as an extremist text. The women also requested all Kemerovo officials involved in the Chabad ideology be fired.

According to the women, they have nothing against Jews, but Chabad, in their opinion, promotes "Jewish supremacy," "Nazism," and "racism."

Video messages of similar content from small groups of local people appeared on February 21 in various social media groups including "Council of Citizens of the Republic of Tatarstan," "Free Bashkortostan," and "All-Russian Union for the Revival of Russia. Tyumen.”
