A former director of the Usinsk branch of the Rusvietpetro Joint Venture company Alexey Krokhin was sentenced in Komi. He was found guilty of concealing information about the events and facts creating a danger to human health and the environment, as well as of violation of environmental regulations in carrying out works and water pollution.

 

According to investigation department of investigating committee of the RF in Komi, investigation and the court found that in November 2012 on the site of the pipeline "VPSN - PSN "Golovnye sooruzheniya", which was operated by the Rusvietpetro Joint Venture company under a lease agreement, emergency oil spill occurred, as a result of which oil products got into the environment, in particular, on the coastline and the surface of the stream Vozeyshore, and then spreaded along the rivers Kolva, Usa and Pechora. 7x7 repeatedly wrote about spills.

 

According to experts, the accident led to the contamination of water bodies, to the damage of fish resources on more than 7 million rubles.

 

"Eliminating of these effects will take a long time and will cost about 90 million rubles," was said in a press release of the Investigation Department.

 

The competent authorities found out about the situation only in May 2013. Depressurization itself was discovered by defendant on November 27, but he hid the fact of the accident at the hazardous production facility, and despite the fact that he was responsible for reporting emergencies, he didn’t inform the competent authorities about the situation and didn’t take steps to determine the accuracy of the spilled oil volume, which didn’t allow to organize a containment and elimination of its consequences in time. By efforts of the Rusvietpetro Joint Venture company appropriate measures were also not organized.

 

The defendant pleaded guilty and requested a resolution order of sentencing without trial. The court sentenced Krokhin to a fine of 200 thousand rubles.
