According to the press service of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic, a former director of the company is accused of committing crimes under Part 2 of Art. 237 of the Criminal Code (concealment of information about events endangering human life or health, or the environment, if someone was harmed or had heavy consequences) Art. 246 of the Criminal Code (violation of the rules for environmental protection during the performance of works) and Part 1 of Art . 250 of the Criminal Code (water pollution).
According to investigators, in November 2012 at the inter-field pipeline "BCS Musyushor — CPF — Head facilities" there was a spill of floating oil and its penetration into water bodies: Vozeyshor creek, the Usa and Colva rivers. This led to a serious harm to water bodies, land degradation, destruction of flora and fish habitat conditions and its reproduction. All these events occurred because of the inaction of the branch chiefs.
When this happened, SK "Rusvietpetro" concealed the information about the emergency. Information about the incident was not directed to the authorized bodies of state power and local self-government; urgent measures to prevent and eliminate pollution of the environment were not taken.
A former branch director admitted guilt in the alleged offence. A case was referred to the City Court of Usinsk for consideration on the merits.
An amnesty in tribute to the 20th anniversary of the Constitution of the Russian Federation adopted by the State Duma on December 18, 2013 doesn’t extend to the defendant in this criminal case. For committing those crimes offender can be sentenced to 7 years in prison.
